Pulsar Wildlife series in Australia

Pulsar has released the Pulsar Wildlife range in Australia, which are thermal monoculars and thermal binoculars specifically designed for wildlife and animal observation. These thermals use different software to the standard thermals and are much better at fringe times, like dusk and dawn.

One of the models is the Pulsar Orni LRF which is a compact, high-performance thermal imaging monocular designed for wildlife observation, search tasks, and outdoor exploration in all conditions. Built around a 640×480, 12µm thermal sensor, it delivers detailed heat-based imaging with strong sensitivity, allowing users to detect and identify animals even in low-contrast environments such as fog, rain, or dense vegetation.

A key feature of the Orni LRF is its integrated laser rangefinder, capable of measuring distances up to 1,500 metres with high accuracy. This makes it particularly useful for gauging distances to wildlife or terrain features in complete darkness.

The device offers a magnification range of 2.5x to 20x with digital zoom, paired with a wide field of view for efficient scanning and tracking. Digital image stabilisation helps reduce hand shake, ensuring a clearer and more comfortable viewing experience during extended use.

Designed for durability, the Orni features a rugged magnesium alloy housing and an IP67 rating, making it waterproof, dustproof, and reliable in harsh environments. It also supports up to 12 hours of operation thanks to a dual battery system, ideal for long field sessions.

Additional features include onboard photo and video recording, Wi-Fi connectivity, and ergonomic one-handed operation, making the Pulsar Orni LRF a versatile and dependable thermal monocular for serious outdoor users.
